Ame's Player Of The Week

Russell Westbrook

There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook is one of the best point guards in the NBA right now.  With his high scoring and high flying dunks, he has taken the Oklahoma City Thunder to the number one spot in the Western Conference. The Thunder play a fast pace,  up beat game, and much to often teams seem to get left in their dust.

He is into his third year in the NBA and he is making this game look to easy. He is averaging 24.4 points, 4.4 rebounds,  and 5.4 assists per game.  Every night he lights up the court with his energy and smile. You can always tell that he comes to play, have fun, and win. The Thunder are 40-14 and they have officially clinched a playoff berth.

Ame's Player Of The Week

Kevin Love

Lately Kevin Love has been playing phenomenal. He dropped 51 points in the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on last Friday night,  March 23, setting a franchise record for most points in a single game. Then he followed that game by hitting 30 points and having 21 rebounds to beat the Denver Nuggets on last Sunday, March 25. He is averaging 26.3 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

He would be in the mention for the MVP award this year, but his team is loosing to many games. The Minnesota Timberwolves are 24-27 and are 3 games back of the 8th spot in the Western Conference. However, this is called player of the week and not team of the week, so Kevin Love wins this round hands down.

Hawks Gas Out Lasted The Jazz's

After giving their all in a game that continued to four overtimes, it was amazing that any of the Atlanta Hawks or the Utah Jazz players were even able to walk off the court. The Hawks coming off back to back games beat the Jazz 139-133 all the while adding their name to history, as this was the leagues first fourth overtime game since 1997.

Larry Drew said he knew that Joe Johnson was tired, but Joe wanted to keep playing so he rode him.

Joe stepped his game up big time. He played 55:23 minutes, had 37 points, 8 rebounds, and dropped four 3 pointers.

However, the Jazz did not go down without a fight. They played hard and long. Al Jefferson put up 28 points, 17 rebounds and Paul Millsap chimed in with 25 points, 13 rebounds of his own.

With the win against the Jazz, the Hawks moved up from 6th to 5th place in the Eastern Conference. They are on a four game winning streak and their record is 30-20.

Josh Smith held his own with 22 points, Jeff Teague had 18 points, and Marvin Williams added 16 points to help the Hawks prevail.

Up next the Hawks play at Milwaukee on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 8:00pm EST.

Tim Tebow No Longer A Bronco, The Saints Bounty Penalties Handed Out, & Ame's Player Of The Week

Tim Tebow, known as God's favorite quarter back, has been shipped out of Denver and into New York. That's right! He is now apart of the Jets. One could be a little confused as to what did good old Timmy do to be sent packing, but please do not lose to much time pondering this, because truth be told he did nothing wrong.

Before Tim took over as quarter back last season the Bronco's had only won one out of five games. With a little bit of help from God, Tim and his teammates went from being in the bottom of the AFC West to the top of their division. Then they got into the playoffs, and lo and behold they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. His playing style may not have been pretty, but he won games. The sad part was his reward from John Elway which was, sorry who cares we managed to snag Peyton Manning so you are out of here. Can we say cut throat? Okay he did not say those exact words, but actions speak louder than words.

Peyton Manning would look like the sure pick to most because of his four MVP's and Super Bowl championship. However, there are some down sides to Mr. Manning. He is 36 years old, which is like 50 in NFL years. He broke his neck and has had multiple surgeries. Last but not least he did not play one game last season, which means he is probably rusty.

With all that being said, it changes nothing because the deal is done and Tim is no longer a Bronco. It's just a sad day when a man takes a team from nothing to something and gets rewarded by getting the boot.

The Saints Bounty Penalties Handed Out

NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, was not playing today as he handed out some pretty huge fines to the New Orleans Saints for their participation in the Bounty scandal.

1. The head coach, Sean Payton,  is suspended 1 year and is reported to lose about 7 million dollars.
2. Mickey Loomis, who is the General Manager, is suspended for 8 games and fined $500,000.
3. The New Orleans Saints franchise got hit with a $500,000 fine and they will lose two 2nd round draft picks in 2012 and 2013.
4. Joe Vitt, the assistant head coach, is suspended without pay for the first 6 games of the 2012 season.
Last but not least, Gregg Williams, who is the former defensive coordinator, is suspended indefinitely.

AME's Player Of The Week
Kobe Bryant

Five time NBA champion, Kobe Bryant, has almost single handedly picked up his Los Angeles Lakers, put them on his back, and taken them to the number one spot in the Pacific division.  He is averaging 28.7 points, 4.8 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game. The Lakers have won their last five out of seven games.  The Black Mamba is on a quest to win his sixth NBA championship. Will he be able to get it done this year or will one of the teams out West stop him before he even gets a chance to make it to the NBA finals? Only time will tell and we will have to wait to see what happens.

Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard, aka Super Man, is the hottest trade talk basketball player right now.  With teams jumping at the chance to have him on their team, he is showing the world that he is well worth this kind of treatment.  He is averaging 21.1 points, 15 rebounds, and 2 assists per game.  He has helped his Orlando Magic move up to third place in the Eastern Conference and they have won five out of six of their last games. Who knows where he will end up, but as of right now the Orlando Magic are riding high with a chance to take over the East

Ame's Player Of The Week

Derrick Rose

The NBA’s reigning MVP has his team back on top with the best record in the league. The Chicago Bulls are 32-8 and with the seven game winning streak that they are on they are looking unstoppable. Derrick Rose is becoming known as Mr. Clutch. He drained two big clutch shots against the San Antonio Spurs on February 29 and a huge clutch shot against the Philadelphia 76ers on March 4. He is averaging 22.4 points, 7.7 assistants, and 3.3 rebounds per game. The Chicago Bulls had the best record in the league last year and with the way they are playing they are looking to take home that record again.

Wozniacki Gets Knocked Out By Clijsters, Derrick Rose Drops 22 Points In His Return, Ekaterina Makarova Beats Serena In Straight Sets

 Clijsters Beats #1 Wozniacki

World's number one, Caroline Wozniacki, was on the hunt for her first grand slam title, but Kim Clijsters stopped her dead in her tracks in yesterday's quarter final match. Clijsters ankle injury from her fourth round win over Li Na was no where to be found as she dominated the court with her power moves and force.

Although the defending Australian Open champion Clijsters is ranked number 11, the rankings went out the window as she proved once again that she can beat Wozniacki. Clijsters dominated the first set 6-3 and went on to win the second set 7-6. Wozniacki did give Clijsters a run for her money in the second set as it went to a tie breaker, which Clijsters prevailed winning the tie breaker 7-4 to move on to the semi finals.

Derrick Rose Is Back

Derrick Rose dropped 22 points in his return to the line up last night against the New Jersey Nets. He has been out for four games straight due to a toe injury. Rip Hamilton also scored 22 points last night to help the Bulls pull off a easy win 110-95.

Derrick Rose hit 2 three pointers in the first quarter and had 14 points putting the Bulls up 28 to 18 going into half time. Rip Hamilton reached a career high of 15,000 points last night. Joakim Noah put up 16 points while Carlos Boozer added 14 and Ronnie Brewer came up with 11.

The Bulls have the best record in the NBA and even tho they have had several of their players out with injuries, the entire team has stepped their game up and are 16-3. The latest Bull player to be out is Luol Deng. He injured his left wrist Saturday night in the game against the Charlotte Bobcats and as of right now his status is day to day. The Bulls have a deep bench and they believe hurt or not they can still win games.

Ekaterina Makarova Sends Serena Home

Five time Australian Open champion, Serena Williams, had no answer for Ekaterina Makarova who beat her in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 on January 22, 2012.  Serena had 37 unforced errors and seven double faults. She seemed to not be able to move as freely and as quickly as she is known to do so, which may be due to the fact that she injured her left ankle two weeks ago. However, Serena always the one to have her fashion style popping off even when she is playing horrible, was sporting a beautiful design made out of tape on her left leg.

Florida State Takes

OUT!!!

The once undefeated at home for 45 games straight, Duke Blue Devils, was handed a lost last night by Florida State. It's safe to say that this was a big ACC game and it brought out the best in both teams.

Let me set the scene for you. Duke had just tied the score 73 to 73 and the Cameron crazies were doing just that.....going crazy. It was loud and only 4.9 seconds left on the clock and Florida State had the ball. No doubt it is hard to win a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium, but Florida State player, Snaer, pulled off a last second three point wide open jump shot that won the game. Florida State players rush the floor wide eyed with excitement and joy to congratulate Snaer on his big time game winning shot.

Duke players along with all the Duke fans were stunned with disbelief and the look on their faces were priceless. Florida State had just handed them their third lost of the season and ended their 45 home game winning streak. A game that went down to the end, but the final score was 76 to 73 Florida State. This was truly a hard pill for Duke to swallow.

Happy Birthday Muhammad Ali & The Divisional Playoffs Recaps

****HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY****
MUHAMMAD ALI

The three time heavy weight boxing champion of the world, better known as the greatest ever turns 70 years old today. The rapper Drake says in his Forever lyrics that his last name is Ever and his first name is Greatest, but Muhammad Ali had that name way before Drake was even born.

Muhammad Ali is one of a kind and will never be duplicated. Ali has won 56 of his 61 fights, winning 37 of them with Knock Out's. Ali will always be known for his crafty rhymes such as I float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. He will forever be the people's champion.

The NY Giants pulled out a stunning upset in the NFC Divisional game on Sunday night. The highly favored defending Super Bowl champions, Green Bay Packers, were sent home in a 37-20 shocking lost.

The Green Bay Packers practically handed the game over to the Giants with all the fumbles and drop passes they had in the game. The Giants not only stunned the Packers but the nation with a Hail Mary touchdown right before half time, which left the Packers trailing 10-20 instead of 10-13.

The Giants came out in the second half still on fire. Eli Manning threw a touchdown pass to Mario Manningham giving the Giants a 30 to 13 lead. Then Rodgers came right back and threw for a touchdown pass to Donald Driver cutting the lead 30 to 20. The Packers then tried a onside kick which the Giants recovered and scored a touchdown to put away the game.

Next up they play the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 6:30pm on FOX

Tebow time came to an end in the AFC Divisional game Saturday night, as the New England Patriots handed the Denver Broncos a beat down no one saw coming. Oh sure the New England Patriots were favored to win, but you couldn't tell the Tebow mania nation that.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots came out throwing punches. It was touchdown after touch down after touch down.  Tom Brady set a all time record for throwing for five touch downs in the first half of a playoff game.

The final score of the game was New England 45 and the Denver Broncos 10. The New England Patriots are on the verge of their fifth Super Bowl appearance in eleven season, which they won three with Tom Brady as their quarter back.

Next up they play the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship game on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 3:00pm on CBS.

The San Francisco 49ers and the New Orleans Saints put on one heck of a show in the NFC Divisional game Saturday night.  At the end of the 1st quarter the 49ers were up 14 to 0 and it looked like it was going to be a long night for the Saints, but in the second quarter Drew Brees and his Saints started marching back with two touchdowns of their own. These two touch downs sent the Saints into half time only down by 3 with a score of 17-14.

In the fourth quarter the Saints were down 25 to 29. With a little over 2:00 minutes left in the game Drew Brees took the Saints down the field and completed a 66 yard touch down pass to Jimmy Graham giving the Saints a 32 to 29 lead. The 49ers got the ball back with 1:37 on the clock and their quarter back, Alex Smith, said what you can do Drew Brees I can do better. Smith completed a 14 yard pass to Vernon Davis with 9 seconds left in the game that ended the hopes of the Saints being able to march into the Super Bowl.

Next up they play the New York Giants in the NFC championship game on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 6:30pm on FOX
